That’s right folks. It’s March, which can only mean one thing…
It’s time for the 2nd Annual North End Zone Tournament of Champions.
I don’t think it was called that last year, but whatevs.
After input from 3 of you out there, we have decided on the topic:
TV Show Theme Songs.
So leave suggestions for ones you’d like to see. But rest assured that many are already included.
I mean, we have to get to 65. Not as easy as it sounds.
We’re fairly certain that The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is getting the #1 seed.
Good luck.

Here are a few (some are obvious): Scrubs, GUTS, Flintstones, Animaniacs, Looney Tunes, What Would You Do?, Cheers, Cosby Show, and of course Simpsons, Fam guy, American Dad
March 6, 2009 at 7:04 pm |
Sorry dude, but I think the rules state a song must be long than 5 seconds, so Scrubs gets the boot.
WWYD? and American Dad are on the bubble. The rest locked it up midseason.

Are you serious? I will send you the Scrubs theme song. Not only is it great as a theme song, but the song itself is damn good too. So is the band who plays it. That better be on the list and it should be at least a 9 seed. If you seed it lower, you’re looking at a cinderella story, sure thing.
March 6, 2009 at 7:24 pm |
I understand it’s a good song, but it plays for 5 seconds at the beginning of each episode. Like Seinfeld. Would you like to include the theme to Lost too?
March 6, 2009 at 7:26 pm |
I don’t watch Lost. If the Scrubs theme song doesn’t get in the bracket you are asking for a coup in the form of blog posts. I will pan your TV theme madness and only discuss it in a negative light. You will cry.

Good Times
Family Ties
Facts of Life
The Elephant Show
Sesame Street
M*A*S*H
March 6, 2009 at 7:29 pm |
Just because you want to think Garden State is the greatest movie ever made and want to have Zach Braff’s babies doesn’t make the theme a true theme.
But since you actually post things, I suppose we can let it in. I can’t wait until it gets trounced by Perfect Strangers.

GREAT call on The Elephant Show. Coming out of the Nick Jr. Conference. It’s the Creighton of the tournament.

Are we going to be able to vote on this bracket or are you just going to decide it yourself?
March 6, 2009 at 7:36 pm |
Wright and I will put together the obvious locks. Then let America decide on the bubble teams.
We’ll seed them as a North End Zone committee.

Where in the world is Carmen San Diego? … yeah, i said it.
March 6, 2009 at 7:49 pm |
Will you be using survey.vt.edu for voting?

Saved By The Bell, it’s got the pace and emotion of the blue devil’s trip to Blacksburg back in ’04.

And how about the classic Monday Night Football theme or SportsCenter (is next)?
March 6, 2009 at 8:02 pm |
Alison – fear not, Saved by the Bell and Carmen will be two of the top seeds. And MNF is definitely in the discussion. (Good call on Duke, by the way. Good lord, I hate Duke.)
The N. – Yes, same surveys as last year.
March 6, 2009 at 8:04 pm |
If you do MNF and Sportscenter then you have to have Baseball Tonight. That may be the most catchy and under appreciated of all the sports theme songs.

Friends better not make it, it’s popular like Indiana… but not good.

My God, we almost forgot McGyver and Inspector Gadget. That would have sent us to the gallows.
March 6, 2009 at 9:12 pm |
You also need to include GI Joe and Thundercats. I shouldn’t have to say it, but just in case, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles should be a 1 or 2 seed.
March 6, 2009 at 9:30 pm |
how about the orginal drew carey theme and im not talking about clevland rocks
March 6, 2009 at 9:45 pm |
“Moon over Parma”. I concur. But, it would be a very low seed. Like a 14.
Has Speed Racer or The Muppet Show been mentioned yet?
March 6, 2009 at 9:46 pm |
Oh shit! Fraggle Rock. Fraggle Rock has to be in this bracket.
March 6, 2009 at 9:47 pm |
If the Muppet Show isn’t in the bracket there is no point in having the bracket.
March 6, 2009 at 9:54 pm |
Concur on all points. Fraggle Rock and the Muppet Show are top conference champions. A high seed awaits.
Speed Racer isn’t a lock, but it is certainly on the list.
March 7, 2009 at 8:55 pm |
Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood is a classic and a darkhouse but a great theme song, Malcolm in the Middle.
Won’t you be my neighbor?
March 7, 2009 at 11:23 pm |
Tiny Toon Adventures.
Hey Dude.
Salute Your Shorts.
get it right or pay the price.

Damn. It looks like you might have to make a wild card bracket just to get into the main bracket.
