The 2009 TV Theme Madness Champion…

May 1, 2009

You’ve wait and waited, and we finally have your answer.

It took a long time to narrow down the 65 song field. It seemingly took longer to weed out all the votes that took place within 2 seconds of each other. But we have arrived.

Your 2009 TV Theme Madness Champion…

Thanks to everyone for voting, it’s been a hell of a ride. Bring us any ideas for next year’s tournament.

And one last time…

And the winner of the TV Theme Madness is…

April 29, 2009

Well, only one person knows and he hasn’t posted the results for our lonely eyes.

I think I speak for everyone when I say:

In case you were wondering, this is what CGally has been doing with his time:

He’s the one in the pink dress.

Found him.

April 24, 2009

This is the guy who voted 50 times for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Well, I’m sure it would be one of the people (?) here.

Interestingly, I found this picture on the “CGally family reunion” site. Hmmm…

Don’t be a douche…

April 24, 2009

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles received 50 votes in a minute and 15 seconds yesterday.

As popular as the theme may be, please don’t be a douche (…ahhem… Northerner).

Leave that up to the professionals at UVA.

TV Theme Madness – Championship

April 23, 2009

Its finally down to the last game. This may have taken longer than the regular March Madness, but we feel that it will truly be worth it.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles demolished the Muppet Show. That one wasn’t even in question.

But the turtles’ opponent in the next round won by exactly two votes. So playing for it all will be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Cheers.

(Sleep sweet, Fresh Prince. You were the early 2000’s version of Kentucky.)

Everyone can vote here. Polls close Monday at midnight. Good luck to both participants.

TV Theme Song Madness: Final Four

April 17, 2009

Fear not all ye TV Theme Song fans. We have arrived at the four greatest theme songs of all time.

From the Norm Region, Cheers thoroughly destroyed The Simpsons, racking up 68% of the vote.

The crowd from the bar will be taking on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, which once again garnered the most votes this round. Happy Days managed a meager 16% of the votes against Uncle Phil and the gang. The Relaxin’ All Cool Region was decided before this tourney began.

On the other side of the bracket, both #5 seeds pulled upsets. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles took out Gilligan with 70% of the vote. Quite a run in the Bayside Region.

Leonardo and the boys will take on the scrapy gang over at The Muppet Show, who beat out Salute Your Shorts to snatch the last spot in the Final Four. Ugg was so pissed, he killed Michael and replaced him with Pinsky.

So to recap:

#1 Cheers

#1 Fresh Prince of Bel Air

#5 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Last Chance to Vote: Sweet 16

April 7, 2009

The plan was to have the polls close at midnight last night, but 3 match-ups were tied. Therefore, the cutoff has been extended by 24 hours. If you’ve voted already, vote again. We have to break these ties somehow.

The tied games in question:

#1 Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? vs. #5 The Muppet Show
#2 The A Team vs. #3 Salute Your Shorts
#2 Flintstones vs. #11 The Simpsons

The other games are pretty close as well.

Good luck to all participants.

TV Theme Madness: Sweet Sixteen

April 2, 2009
It’s finally here!! We know this should have been posted yesterday, but the Penguins won 6 – 1, which makes the Pens drinking game a little difficult to handle.

Not too many close games this last round, as you can see from the results. Vote here. A lot of blow outs and mismatches. Let’s take a look:

Norm Region

Cheers rolled as expected, but the real story here is Cinderella. The Simpsons took down Duck Tales, one of our dark horses to make the final four. This creates a classic match up of the two longest running animated shows in history. The drubbing that Ghostbusters put on Beverly Hillbillies made Jed Clampet move back to Sticksville.

Relaxin’ All Cool Region

Sesame Street received 4 votes. Why even bother to show up at the gym? And Inspector Gadget pulled off the upset in impressive style. The Gadget has to like it’s chances against Happy Days.

Bayside Region

All chalk in the Bayside Region Almost all chalk in the Bayside Region. Gilligan’s Island is looking about as strong as anyone at this point.

Gumshoe Region

The Muppet Show pulls off a slight upset, but garners more votes than it’s upcoming opponent, Carmen Sandiego. The Salute Your Shorts / A Team matchup make this region the one to watch out for.

Here are the sweet sixteen matchups:
Norm Region
#1 Cheers vs. #5 Ghostbusters
#2 Flintstones vs. #11 Simpsons

Relaxin’ All Cool Region
#1 Fresh Prince of Bel Air vs. #5 Scooby Doo
#3 Happy Days vs. #10 Inspector Gadget

Bayside Region
#1 Saved by the Bell vs. #5 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
#2 Gilligan’s Island vs. #6 The Jeffersons

Again, cast your vote here. Good luck to all participants.
