Hokies are good in football AND futbol

December 11, 2007

With the football Hokies on a month-long hiatus and the basketball Hokies just getting going, you may be missing one of the greatest runs in Virginia Tech history. The Hokie soccer team, appearing in their third straight NCAA Tournament, has reached the Final-freaking-Four.

For those of you wondering, the game will be played this Friday at 5 pm, on ESPN2. The 11-seeded Hokies will be playing the 2-seed Wake Forest (what up ACC?). The game is in North Carolina, which begs the question: why do we play all of these neutral games in the other team’s state?

Glad VT was brought into the ACC for football. Wouldn’t want us winning in soccer (which the ACC is known for) or basketball (3rd last year, 2-2 against UNC since joining the conference).

So get your maroon and orange on and learn how to spot offsides. Let’s go Hokies!!
